Bloominary · Figure Painting Workshop Manila

Stop painting figures.
Start finishing them.

Bloominary is a hands-on figure painting workshop in Manila for beginners, sculptors, collectors, and makers. You learn the decisions that turn flat color into skin, cloth, metal, light, and character.

What you learn

The small decisions
that make a figure feel alive.

01

Brush Control

Paint placement, thinning, layering, edge control, and how to stop fighting the brush. Clean work begins before the detail stage.

02

Light and Gradients

Build shadows and highlights that describe the form. Learn why a technically smooth gradient can still look wrong.

03

Faces and Eyes

Skin tones, expression, eye placement, contrast, and the tiny corrections that stop a face from feeling blank.

04

Color Decisions

Choose colors that work together under real light. Reference is useful, but copying pixels is not the same as understanding color.

05

Airbrush Basics

Use the airbrush for controlled gradients, ambient color, and broad transitions without letting it flatten every material into the same finish.

06

Final Finish

Details, cleanup, material contrast, protective coats, and the last pass where a painted figure finally becomes a finished object.

Who it is for

Beginner is a starting point.
Not an apology.

You do not need formal art training. You need curiosity, patience, and the willingness to look closely. The room is built for questions, corrections, and trying again while someone is there to show you why the first attempt missed.

Experienced painters are welcome too. Bring the part of your process that keeps failing, whether that is skin, eyes, gradients, color, airbrush control, or finishing.

  • Complete beginners picking up a brush for the first time
  • Collectors who want to repaint their own figures
  • Sculptors who want stronger presentation finishes
  • 3D-printing makers tired of leaving work in primer
  • Model and miniature painters refining technique
  • Private groups looking for a focused art workshop

Less lecture.
More paint on the figure.

How sessions work

Registration details

The announcement states what the session covers, who it is for, what to bring, what is provided, and the confirmed fee.

Hands-on workshop

Demonstration is followed by practice. You work on the figure while Charles moves through the room, corrects technique, and helps solve the problem in front of you.

Private groups

Private sessions are available. Group size, venue, materials, skill level, and lesson focus are discussed before the workshop is quoted.

Questions

Before you join the room.

Do I need figure painting experience?

No. Beginners are welcome. The session starts with fundamentals, then adjusts to the people in the room.

When is the next workshop?

Sessions are announced when the date and venue are confirmed. Email Luminary Studios or message the Facebook page to ask about the next available session.

How much does a session cost?

The fee depends on the lesson, venue, duration, materials, and whether the session is public or private. The confirmed price is included in each announcement.

Are tools and materials included?

That depends on the session. Every announcement states what is provided and what participants need to bring. Ask before buying anything for the workshop.

Can I book a private group?

Yes. Send the group size, preferred area, experience level, target date, and what you want the session to teach.
